[tex-live] pgf and plain TeX

TeXLive-2005 unfortunately provides a version of the pgf package which
does not work with plain tex.

It seems that LaTeX users are not affected.

However, it is now possible for UNIX users to (mis)use the program
getnonfreefonts[-sys] to install the latest version from CTAN.

The command

   getnonfreefonts-sys pgf

installs pgf in $TEXMFLOCAL while

   getnonfreefonts pgf

installs it in $TEXMFHOME.


BTW., getnonfreefonts currently supports the following fonts:

   eurofont:      Euro symbols (Adobe).
   dayroman:      DayRoman (Apostrophiclabs)
   garamond:      GaramondNo8 (URW).
   lettergothic:  LetterGothic (URW).
   luximono:      LuxiMono (Bigelow & Holmes)
   mathdesign:    Math fonts for Charter, Garamond and
                  Utopia (Paul Pichaureau).
   urw-arial:     Arial (URW)
   utopia:        Utopia (Adobe).
   webomints:     Webomints (Galapagos Design Group).
