Right, unrelated. That is only about the web interface, unrelated to the
actual file.  It is explicitly disabled to do diffs between
considered-binary files (such as pdfs), because it consumes huge
resources when spiders follow the tree, to no purpose.

I am not sure at first glance why messages.pot is considered binary;
maybe svn is somehow returning application/octet-stream for its
mime-type. That is what the actual binaries are, so it has to be
there. Meanwhile, svn diff from the command line is the way to go. -k
