LaTeX is a macro package written in the TeX language.

TeX Live is a distribution of all things related to TeX, that is, it
also includes LaTeX.

No, current implementation is web2c based. But this is not *LaTeX*,
but the tex engines/interpreters (there is a variety of them: tex, etex,
pdftex, luatex, xetex, ptex, uptex, hitex).

LaTeX is written in the TeX language.

Not sure what  you mean with good overview.
