$ locate libglut

/snap/gnome-42-2204/176/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libglut.so.3.9.0
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libglut.so.3
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libglut.so.3.9.0

I don't know if 'gnome-42-2204' is installed by default on K/Ubuntu with 
the 'snapd' system, but it has the identical 'libglut.so.3.9.0' as that 
of 'freeglut' via 'apt'. Either of these might be ready to go.
