Problem with expl3.sty

I am attempting to create a document in MLA format. However, I received the
following error message:

For what it's worth, I use WinEdt 11 on Windows 11. I update Tex Live on a
nearly daily basis. So I suspect that this error arises from some change
that occurred over the last few days.
