The Latin Modern Mono Fonts were designed to extend the glyph coverage of the Computer Modern family. They are provided as Type 1 as well as OpenType fonts.
Yet another implementation of The Computer Modern fonts with enhanced glyph coverage is the New Computer Modern fonts. These fonts tend to keep the visual design of the original Computer Modern Fonts. The New Computer Modern fonts come in OpenType only.
As the original design of the Computer Modern fonts were made in MetaFont with a high degree of parameterization, several modifications of the fonts are available.
