[texhax] Problems with TeX Live

Hi, my name is Humberto. I recently installed Tex Live and some of the examples given on the LaTeX 2e do not work;


\begin{equation}

E=mc^2

\end{equation}


This one works fine.


\begin{equation*}

E=mc^2

\end{equation*}


Results in "!LaTeX error: Environment equation * undefined".


\begin{align}

a & = b+c+d+e+f\\

& = g+h+k

\end{align}

Results in "!LaTeX error: Environment align & undefined".


There are other similar commands which do not work on Tex Live. Are there options to those commands?
