Thank you for your advice.
Now I checked with my latest TeX Live (not all the CTAN packages, as I
don't know how to grep CTAN). All packages which use \@oval, \@ovvert,
\@ovhorz included in TL seem to be working as expected with the new
definitions, as far as I can see.
