[texhax] Windows 10 has changed output clarity

Running MiKTeX 2.9 and using amsbook,  the output to my .dvi file has become
blobby (fonts and graphics) - precisely on upgrading to Windows 10.

Has anyone else experienced this, please, and is there a known solution?
