[texhax] Danish character in Plain TeX

Hi,

 

I need some help on getting Unicode/UTF-8/8bit-whatever characters active in
Plain TeX. I want to use Plain TeX & Computer Modern, but cannot figure out
how to get my old files from 25 years back typeset with the danish
characters æ,ø and å. I have fiddled quite a lot with XeTeX and LuaTex but
have not yet managed to do the job. What to do?
