[texhax] Labels and References with "varioref"

Victor, go back to the original post, the OP messes with \labelformat to make it print 'item', that messes with stuff.
(sorry for top posting, OWA isn't the most flexible webmail....)

No, you do not understand. It prints out "item", but it does not print
out the correct item umber. Instead of, in this case, printing out
"item 4A", it prints out "item A" which can be ambiguous.

Obviously an original poster meant \vref{itm:4} rather than item
Since I do not use varioref but enumitem package I could be mistaken
