[texhax] Typeset Button

Today I opened my thesis in LaTex for editing, and for the first time, the "Typeset" button does not appear on the editing window.  I have (a) Googled the problem, (b) searched the LaTex FAQ's, and (c) searched the LaTex documentation, and (d) searched my book "More Math Into Latex (Gratzer) and found no help for restoring this button.
Can you help?
