What did you do for the cases where

(a) the length of one of the arguments from 1 to 4 is less than
     0.5\textwidth but greater than 0.25\textwidth and the length of at least
     one argument from 1 to 4 is greater than 0.5\textwidth,

(b) then length of all of the arguments from 1 to 4
     is greater than 0,5\textwidth but less than \textwidth

as neither of these appear covered by your original desiderata.
