this raises (again) in my mind a couple of things:
(a) a long ago proposal for a .sty documentation reader, to deal with don's
way of doing things, and
(b) an idea of mine, just to write some docs (based on don's comments and
things like multiple-span.txt, and offer them to him for his approval.

it's a real pity that don's packages are seen as (somewhat) unapproachable
by users because they're not documented in a standard way.
