So multiple related equations.

But eqnarray and eqnarray* DO allow page breaks in the middle!
There is some critical information you are not revealing.
Have you used \samepage anywhere? Have you changed 
\interdisplaylinepenalty? Are you using amsmath?

(amsmath disallows breaks by default. Use \allowdisplaybreaks
to allow.)
