    The disk-image you supply at
    http://mirror.ctan.org/systems/mac/mactex/MacTeX.dmg seems to be corrupt.

The original MacTeX.dmg image is OK, really. The likely culprit is that
the large file was corrupted during the download. You can choose a CTAN
mirro explicitly by downloading via this url:

   http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/systems/mac/mactex/MacTeX.dmg

A printed list is available at
   http://ctan.org/tex-archive/README.mirrors

(Also, if you use ftp explicitly, be sure to transfer the file in binary
mode.)
