[texhax] test for LaTeX typist ?

One of the problems is that Universities usually have a pool of
candidates and it could happen that there is nobody appropriate in
it...

If you are looking for purebred LaTeX typist, not general secretary I
would suggest that a good candidate should be fast and without
mistakes typing, smart and enthusiastic to learn and not burdened by
harmful habits like formatting MSW documents. Sometimes even
experience with plain TeX could be a problem (one of our secretaries,
probably the best one in the Western hemisphere (no jokes) had a very
hard time to getting rid off the habit to number everything manually.

Anyway: the faculties who are proficient in LaTeX prefer type by
themselves, but there is always a very respected Department member who
had no idea about TeX and who needs at least 10 minutes to turn
computer on :-) and who has very firm ideas how his/her article should
look like and these ideas are ranging from strange to weird... Give
the article of this Professor to type and if the candidate manages to
comply with all the requests of this pervert, you got your man :-)
