For .pdf, the prevalent view of ideal would be to use Windows or the 
Mac OS and have Adobe Reader present its concept of a tagged .pdf. How 
well does Adobe Reader work in Linux? does it interact w/ 
screen-viewing programs?

Unfortunately, while it's been discussed, pdftex doesn't generate 
tagged pdf, so may be a non-starter for this sort of thing (and that's 
_if_ Adobe Reader works well w/ screen readers in Linux).

I guess the real question here would be if there would be some what to 
automatically get from a .dtx to a structured text-oriented format --- 
can it be made to work w/ hyperref and tex4ht or something along those 
lines? If so, we could render a .html version which would work?
