Thanks Martin for the new pointer.  I now use it in my .sig!

People who top post (clearly not including Martin!) are either don't
know about better methods or are unaware that they are making much
unnecessary work (read: torture) for their readers.  The purpose of
communication is to get a message across clearly.  This is the same as
the purpose of LaTeX/TeX.  There are good ways of posting and there
are good ways of typesetting.  Top posting is not a good method, just
as word processors are a bad method.  yes, top posting, like word
processors, is easy but the results are ugly and hard to work with.  I
received a top posted conversation, it was gobledegook just like the
example at wiki, but much worse because it went for pages, with
repeats.  It was pretty hard to untangle.
