this is all very well ... i can download this stuff once-off and
install it on my web page and refer people to it.  but where is there
a copy that i can sensibly link to from the faq, say?  all these
splendid bits and pieces on sarovar are fine, but they're only really
there for us geeks ... the impatient masses are unlikely to accept a
<xyz repository> project reference.

which is one of the reasons ctan exists...
