The newest TeX Collection no longer supports Mac OS 9. You'll need to 
install OzTeX, CMacTeX or something similar. The archived Mac-TeX pages 
should be of help: http://www.esm.psu.edu/mac-tex/default9.html. It has 
links to the various sites to download systems.
