I must honestly say, we (or at least I) leave that completely to
those using and maintaining Macs. First of all Dick.

I am completely ignorant, and would include everything that is
suggested by those most closely connected to Macs.

That needs of course taken into account, too. Messing around
in the installer and the tlmgr needs to be done in sync.

tlmgr btw not necessarily uses config.guess, but can also use
a setting in the tlpdb.

I think that was a decision Dick did and he had reasons for it.

If that has changed or not, I don't know, but we (or at least I) leave
that to Dick to decide what is the best.
