You can read about domains and roaming profiles at
http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_%26_Windows_Profiles or at the
Samba 3 howto at http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba3-HOWTO/
Samba does not do domains and roaming profiles the same way as M$,
but it will still give you some insight.
And I just learnt that it IS possible to redirect folders directly
to UNC paths, without creating a mapping.

As long as there is a drive letter, it should not make a large
difference whether it is a local drive or a mapped network drive.
Except you never know with windows.
I'll do some more studying and experimenting myself with roaming
profiles and redirected paths.
