[tex-live] homebrew mactex?

If you don't want to use the MacPorts TeX Live (instead using
MacTeX's TeX Live), you have to edit /opt/local/etc/macports.conf
to change the binpath to put /usr/texbin at the head of the path.

You can then use the appropriate variant (e.g., mactex for auctex)
and it should use the MacTeX TeX Live without building its own.
If a particular port still wants to build the MacPorts TeX Live,
you may need to edit that port's portfile to add a variant or
change the dependencies so they only reference binaries or nothing
at all.

(Ultimately, you may decide that your time and sanity are worth
more than the disk space, of course.)
