[tex-live] updmap-sys problem

TL 2012, Mac OS X 10.6.8.  I just ran tlmgr update --all 
against the Utah pretest mirror using TeX Live Utility, 
and updmap-sys fails:

running updmap-sys ...
updmap-sys failed (status 2), output:
Nested quantifiers in regex; marked by <-- HERE in m/(/var/folders/gf/gf2bDLqLEWypyyNLFbXijE+++ <-- HERE TI/-Tmp-/Library/texmf|/usr/local/texlive/2012/texmf-config)/web2c/updmap.cfg/ at /usr/texbin/updmap line 297.

Based on the error message, it looks like the path to my 
temporary directory is used unescaped in a regex.  Note 
that this path is pretty typical for $TMPDIR on OS X.

$ tlmgr --version
