Hi. First the good news:
I installed the TL 2010 pretest in Win XP wuthout problem. I used
tlmgr to remove some packages and install others without problems.
I uninstalled the whole thing without problems and reinstalled with
the saved profile without problems. I processed several old tex
files, all without problems.
The bad news:
I ran across only one actual problem, which seems to date back
at least to TL 2009. There are several perl scripts in
texmf-dist/scripts/ that are named without any extension and
runscript seems unable to make use of them. For example, running
pst2pdf filename
produces a message from runscript that no suitable script can be
found. Renaming texmf-dist/scripts/pst2pdf/pst2pdf to pst2pdf.pl
allows the command to succeed.
This is undoubtedly only a windows problem. Nevertheless, here is
a list of all the scripts in texmf-dist/scripts/ I have discovered
with this problem (though not all will work correctly even after
renaming):
PERL SCRIPTS:
bundledoc/bundledoc
bundledoc/arlatex
fig4latex/fig4latex
findhyph/findhyph
fontools/afm2afm
fontools/autoinst
fontools/cmap2enc
fontools/font2afm
fontools/ot2kpx
fontools/pfm2kpx
fontools/showglyphs
latex2man/latex2man
pkfix-helper/pkfix-helper
pst2pdf/pst2pdf
purifyeps/purifyeps
texdiff/texdiff
texdirflatten/texdirflatten
texloganalyser/texloganalyser
xetex/perl/xdv2pdf_mergemarks
PYTHON SCRIPT:
de-macro/de-macro
