I checked with Synaptic all tetex and texlive related packages, and
according to it I have none of those.

(By the way, Fink ---a Debian-like Linux packages distribution for
Mac--- uses placeholders, for example system-tetex ``Placeholder
package for manually installed teTeX'', to satisfy dependencies of its
packages.)

Anyway, I cleaned all repetitive paths to texlive I had, and for the
moment I've put the path just in /etc/environment. Now Root Terminal
doesn't know anything about texlive, but I can ``sudo su'' and then
``tlmgr update --all'' or ``updmap-sys...'' from a regular terminal,
and it works fine.

Yes, I've seen that, but I want to build it myself (I did it with
TeXmaker, and for the time being I don't want to add repositories to
Ubuntu's official ones).

Following the instructions I end up with

I expect to be able to solve that soon; otherwise, I might reconsider
my policy on repositories.

Thank you.
