    BTW, it would be nice if TeXLive had bug tracking system of its own...

The suggestion has been made before.  We have a project at berlios
(among other places) that has a bug tracker, among other things.

(The bugs there now are old news, as you'll see if you look.)

I've tried to use it in the past.  It never caught on.
The mailing list wins ...
