[tex-live] TL 2008 documentation problems

I successfully installed TL2008 (thanks for the tips on how to find  
the install-tl software).

After the install, the script sends me to

>  See
>    /usr/local/texlive/2008/index.html
>  for links to documentation...

That web page has a link to /usr/local/texlive/2008/readme-html.dir/ 
readme.en.html, which has the following statement:
> <p>We also provide a list of <a href="../doc.html">links to the  
> available PDF and HTML documentation</a> for the included packages  
> and programs.

What a great idea! This file, however does not exist.

Also, I wanted to refer to the pdftex manual, which in TL2007 is in

/usr/local/texlive/2007/texmf/doc/pdftex/manual/pdftex*.pdf

However, in TL2008, there is no directory

/usr/local/texlive/2008/texmf/doc/pdftex

Also present in 2007 and absent in 2008:

/usr/local/texlive/2008/texmf/doc/chktex
/usr/local/texlive/2008/texmf/doc/latex
/usr/local/texlive/2008/texmf/doc/pdfcrop
/usr/local/texlive/2008/texmf/doc/texi2html
/usr/local/texlive/2008/texmf/lists
/usr/local/texlive/2008/texmf/texdoc

I particularly miss /usr/local/texlive/2008/texmf/lists, because it  
shows what files are where for any package.
