Hi Phil,
I agree with you that it is desirable that people can read the
documentation before they install anything. Many people want to know
what had been changed, at least.
A possible solution for people using the network installer is to put
the files
README*
index.html
readme.html/
texmf-doc/doc/<language>/texlive-XX/*
into the same directory which contains the network installer. Then
people can read the documentation *before* they download the
installer.
Karl, what do you think? The documentation has to be updated once per
year, hence it's not much work. I could provide a .tar.gz file which
contains all the doc files needed or maybe a script which derives
them somehow automatically next weekend.
It's very desirable IMO to allow people to read the documentation
*before* they install/download anything.
