Thanks, Akira, it seems that in this case ps2epsi is more accurate.
There is obviously another problem:

In Cygwin there is /usr/bin/gs and there is also /dev/null.
This seems to be more reliable (suggested by Karl a few weeks ago when
we talked about getnonfreefonts):
if (-d /usr/bin) {
$ghostscriptname = "gs";
$NULLDEV = "/dev/null";
} else {
$ghostscriptname = "gswin32c";
$NULLDEV = "nul";
}
