Yes. The message is adapted from the name of the called deprecated 
script. If you call altpdflatex you get "simpdftex latex input" and if 
you call altpdftex you get "simpdftex tex input". The message is a bit 
larger and empty lines before and after to facilitate finding it in the 
log window of front ends.

I would be happy to use symlinks (btw I did not originally edit this, I 
just kept it as it was. I think Karl originally made the change?) but I 
guess this would not work everywhere. I have no idea. Symlinks are fine 
afaic.
