Yes, I'm very happy to accept that point. Indeed, if we could
reach agreement that version numbers should retain the same rank-order
when (a) sorted as reals, and (b) sorted as ordered pairs of integers,
I would be positively ecstatic :-) As far as I can tell, Staszek
et al were adopting that convention (tacitly) whilst "libconvert-binhex-perl"
appears to violate it, if "version 1.119 must be higher than 1.12" as
previously asserted.
