Unfortunately, the fonts are needed by default, so it I does matter.  
The LaTeX Bug report amslatex/3448 explains the problem, and how is
can be circumvented.  (Btw, even with the patches which I have
suggested there, euex7 would be needed in any case, see the file
ueuex57.fd.  I've noticed this only now.)
