[tex-live] Problems installing texlive2004 on Solaris 2.8

I'm trying to install TeXLive from the texlive2004-inst-20041127.iso file on
Solaris 2.8 and am having problems.  I select the XML schema, the
"HTML/SGML/XML sup" collection (among the others that are selected by
default), change the default directory and then install.  Some errors during
the install (see below) and when all done, there are no config files in
existence.

I saw a similar problem regarding version of unzip in the mail archives, but
don't see the same problem with my version of unzip:

    Either put this file into the right place or remove the
    reference from the configuration file. An automatic way
    to disable unavailable map files is to call
      updmap --syncwithtrees

    For manual editing, call
      updmap --edit

For future configuration, edit files in /proj/twolf/local/TeX/texmf-var
(or run texconfig).


Add /proj/twolf/local/TeX/bin/sparc-solaris2.7
  to your PATH for current and future sessions.
