[tex-live] Status 'TeX Collection' (CTAN part)

the sad thing is that this discussion could have happened
6 months ago :-}

I have to agree with Staszek that all the
documentation and past experience is that TeX Live is at the
root of the CD or DVD. I am reluctant to assume that all scripts
and programs will have been written correctly to allow
for other arrangements, not to mention things like notes in Kopka's
book.

Although Karl is right, that it makes a real mess, the
"ctan" subdirectory is easier to deal with (by clear documentation) than
the alternative, isn't it?
