I just installed from the "demo" image, using all defaults (under
Linux), and the texlive documentation more or less ran immediately. It
fell over when it wanted TeX4ht, as that is not part of the recommended
installation

certainly no problems about ptmr7t.tfm

cm-super is not on the demo CD, of course.

maybe TeX Live docs should switch to use lm? just needs a
\usepackage{lmodern}.
